The teachers’ union is striking in Chicago. I’m not going to even link to the articles because it’s so ridiculous. What are they striking about? More f8cking money, what else? But guess what? Reports suggest that Chicago teachers are the highest paid teachers in the nation, averaging $76,000 a year*. They’re actually trying to argue that “No, no, we’re second highest behind New York when you take into account blah blah blah f8cking blah.” How does that make you feel, Chicago residents? Your lunch lady is making almost 80 large to complain that she’s not making enough money, and by this time on Wednesday, Chicago’s going to look like Escape From New York with 400,000 out of school street toughs roaming the streets of the city.
Hey I read The Jungle. The meat packing district of the 1890′s was a gd nightmare, I get it. But your kids are failing basic classes at an alarming rate, and you want MORE money to sit in class and develop another generation of Occupy Wall Street buffoons? Since I don’t pass judgment based on looks, I won’t say that I don’t see any gym teachers in that picture up there, or math for that matter. Prepost.
*Their year is nine months long, folks.

The WSJ (paper edition) says (among other things) that “you’re” fighting becuase Rahm Emannuel increased the school day from 5 hours 45 minutes to 7 hours, and he also “pushed to make teacher evaluations more reliant on student performance.” GASP!
It goes on to mention that you rejected a 16% raise over four years, instead demanding 29% raises over TWO years. Also – ALSO – it says that you have one of the worst graduation rates in the country – 55%, and that about 6% of your high school students go on to get a four-year college degree. (That % goes down to 3% when you talk about African American and Hispanic boys.)
Oh yeah, it also says that your shithole of a school system will be $3 billion dollars in the hole in the next three years, thanks to your insistence that you have ZERO accountability where it matters – student performance. Go Union!
I almost forgot – the $76K doesn’t include what gets “put into” their pension!
If they took all the money they spent on XXXX Tshirts they could have giving another Paco some English emerson classes or provided canvas for the entire Tall Ship Fleet.

Most of us are from Boston, so we’re a little bit higher up on the intelligence stepladder when compared to those in the Midwest. For example, your sentence structure and use of punctuation, for lack of a better term, are fucking awful.

Wrong again, Anonymous. The rest of the country knows exactly what’s going on. Your Union is interested only in siphoning money from the public at the DIRECT expense of your students who are learning nothing and their private economy parents who are making a houseold income of $47,000 a year. All while you make an average of $71K or $76K a year in salary (depending on who you believe) plus $15K a year in benefits.
All of this despite the fact that you are turning out some of the shittiest students on the face of this great nation.
